Ms. Shawn Bland

BlandThird grade teacher

After jumping in as the eighth grade teacher last spring, Ms. Bland is excited to join the St. Mary's faculty full-time to teach third grade. She is a credentialed teacher with more than 20 years of experience. Her diverse background includes teaching elementary grades, English as a Second Language, and middle school language arts and social studies. In addition, she has taught parent and adult courses.

Ms. Bland has a variety of interests and talents. She breeds, raises, and trains Scottish terriers. During the Christmas and summer breaks, she teaches and hosts international students visiting the United States. If that isn't enough, Ms. Bland sings for wedding, anniversaries, and parties. Mostly, she is kept running by her four children, two boys and two girls!

Raised in California and a Central Coast resident since 1989, Ms. Bland chose to be baptized as a Catholic at the age of sixteen. As a convert to Catholicism, she brings a fresh enthusiasm about the Church and our faith.
